International School Award03/04/19
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the International School Award from the British Council for our work with our partner school in Nepal. We started the process roughly two years ago when Mr Jones and Miss Fisher went on a Global Citenzip Course and since then have worked tirelessly to build links between our partner school in Nepal and ourselves. We trialed a digital literacy project with our Year 5 & 1/2 pupils and then used a modified version of that project for our Year 5 pupils to work collaboratively with their peers in Nepal. The children taught each other about their cultures through creative writing and developed their digital literacy skills as well as their global citizenship understanding.
Mr Jones and Miss Fisher traveled to Nepal to work with our new partners to develop the initial project and discuss plans for future projects. We have since completed a project with our Year 2 pupils linking with their peers in Nepal to teach each other about Religious traditions in our cultures and have involved our whole school to share our National Anthems being sung.
We have many exciting projects ahead of us and aim to create an educational environment where our pupils are truly global citizens.
Over the next year we hope to achieve the next level of the award which would make us a fully accredited International School, and are excited for all of the opportunities this link brings for our school and our pupils.
